Battery Cable Assemblies

Our battery leads are used in various applications including 6, 12 and 24 volt automotive systems. Other applications include Standby Power, Generator Sets and UPS Battery systems. As an integral link supplying power from the battery to the system our expertise ensures that the battery connection is reliable and trustworthy.

Our stock profile allows us to manufacture a wide variety of battery leads ranging from standard ring terminals and battery clamp connectors to more complex fittings for specific applications. For Quality Assurance we have invested in a Mecmesin Multitest machine, ensuring the highest quality product to our customers. We have the capacity to perform pull tests with a maximum force of 10,000 Newton meters and a sensitivity of less than 1 Newton.

Crimp joint testing measures the tension force required to pull apart or separate the components of a wire crimp or cable lug, in most cases connected to a wire.

The reliability of the battery lead depends critically upon the quality of the crimp or lug termination.

The benefits to the customer from this type of testing include:

  • Compliance with industry standards
  • Ensuring the crimp terminations are fit for purpose
  • Ensuring the safety and quality of the product.

Battery leads produced at Parkinson Harness Technology Ltd utilise standard automotive cable or high temperature cross linked cables for areas where possible heat damage to the cable is of concern.
With the forthcoming implementation of the Tier 4 off-road engine we foresee that battery leads will need to perform in a different environment to the current engines, hence we are able to supply battery leads that will withstand the demands of high temperature, oil and vibration.

As part of our commitment to service we are able to manufacture prototype volumes for customer approval.

All of our vehicle harness systems are manufactured under the umbrella of our ISO9001:2000 approval.

We ensure that all crimps are capable of meeting the standard set out in BS 5G 178.
